Forces: Work and Machines DVD
Explore the forces that affect our lives and work gravity, friction, and elastic force. This program uses contemporary illustrations and clear, concise diagrams to give students a thorough introduction to the concepts of work and power. Then, the principles are applied to simple machines.
Forces at Work: The principle of gravity; illustrates elastic force using a spring balance; demonstrates friction using examples such as car brakes. Students also learn the formulas for work and power and gain an understanding of horsepower and watts.
Work and Machines: Presents the concept of mechanical advantage as it relates to work. Introduces students to simple machines such as the lever, pulley, inclined plane, wheel and axle, screw, and wedge.
